Platinum Jewellery

In today’s society platinum jewellery is becoming quite popular. Whether it be in the form of a ring, bracelet or necklace, it is clear that platinum designs are both elegant and sophisticated.

Platinum is the heaviest of the common jewellery metals and is extremely hard wearing. With this comes strength and therefore it will be long lasting. Platinum is the only form of jewellery that will never distinguish or lose its colour. This is because platinum is pure, which makes it hypoallergenic. It has a much higher melting point than other metals such as gold.

It is only after using ten tons of ore and fives months of processing time that platinum can be transformed into pieces of Platinum. Any platinum jewellery marked ’RIDPLAT’ contains 90% platinum and 10% iridium. If marked ‘PLAT’ then the product is at least 95% platinum, with 5% ruthenium.
It is important to understand that when cleaning platinum jewellery, an official cleaner package purchased from your jeweller is used. Other than that, you can also ask your jeweller to clean it for you. Many people prefer this option as a jeweller has the expertise to carry out such tasks. Always store your platinum jewellery with special care.
