Other pearls such as cultured pearls are culled and grown in ideal conditions by the farmer. A small bead will usually be put it and then the pearl deposits will grow around it.

Akoya Pearls
Akoya pearls are from Japan. They are the most desirable of all pearls found anywhere in the world. Japans associated country, China have been producing these types of pearls but have been unable to produce them to the same quality as Japan.
Freshwater Pearls

Freshwater pearls are grown in Japan, China and also the USA. They come from freshwater mussels as opposed to oysters. They are the most fairly priced the cultured pearls and as their shape is so unique, they make for a perfect gift.
Keshi Pearls
Keshi pearls are grown in many countries such as Japan, Indonesia and the Philippines. They are created as a result of the sulturing process. Similar to Freshwater pearls, they have a unique shape, which makes for an interesting gift.
Mabe Pearls
Mabe pearls, like with Keshi pearls are grown in many countries such as are grown in many countries such as Japan, Indonesia and the Philippines. They are grown against the inside shell of any oyster and are used mainly in rings and earrings.
South Sea Black
Grown in French Polynesia, South Sea Black pearls are grown in a variety of large oysters. They can be quite expensive due to their natural size and colour.
White South Sea
White South Sea cultured pearls are found in pacific countries such as Australia, Mynamar and Indonesia. They are grown in large or semi tropical oysters and range in size. It is because of this, being quite large, that they are the most expensive of the cultured pearls.
