Necklaces

A necklace is a form of jewellery that is worn around the neck. Necklaces are often part of a 'chain', 'pendant' or 'locket'. There are also many different types of necklaces such as Dog Collars (contains multiple pearls), Opera Necklaces (sits on the breastbone), Bib Necklaces (which contain pearls), Matinee Necklaces (sits on the top of the cleavage), Chokers (long necklace), Graduated Necklaces (single pearls), Princess Necklaces, Rope Necklaces and Uniform Necklaces.

They can be decorated by all of the different available metals and can include diamonds, rubies and other gemstones. Normally, a necklace would be associated with a female and a chain with a male. As with any other form of jewellery, a necklace is often offered as a gift to a loved one or close companion. Prices can range from a few pounds to thousands of pounds, depending upon the overall decoration.

Many religous people such as Christians wear a cross or crucifix necklace to remind them of 'Jesus Christ'. As with all necklaces, the design of the crucifix can differ in size, colour and style. It is not just Christians that may wear such an accessory though. Some people choose to wear crucifix necklaces merely as a decoration.
