Gemstone Jewellery

Gemstones are beautiful, brightly coloured, and stylish pieces of stone, that are used in jewellery making. There are several different types of gemstones, such as onyx, garnet, amethyst, rubies, diamonds, topaz, and several others.

Gems have been used as beautiful pieces for adornment since ancient times, when it was thought that they had magical powers. Now they are mainly used in jewellery, and art and crafts. They also add a great deal of colour and style, to any outfit.

Every month of the year has its own birthstone assigned to it. A garnet is for January, February is an amethyst, aquamarine is for March, April is a diamond, emerald is for May, June is a pearl, July is a ruby, August is a peridot, a sapphire for September, October is an opal, yellow topaz is for November and finally, turquoise is for December. A lovely gift for someone would be a piece of jewellery, with their birthstone in it.

Gemstone jewellery is usually quite affordable, much more than say gold, and easy to clean and take care of. It comes in earrings, brooches, rings, solitaire pendants, necklaces, and bracelets. The vibrant colours, such as the bright blues, greens, yellows, and the deep reds, purples, and oranges of the gemstones, add to the beauty of these pieces of jewellery.

You can also add gemstone pieces to art and craft pieces, or add their colour and warmth to decorating projects.

Anyway you wish to use them, as a gift, a burst of colour with a scarf or outfit, choosing a quality gemstone jewellery piece would be a wonderful investment.
