Costume Jewellery

Jewellery adds beauty and charm to any outfit, and costume jewellery is no different. A well made, good looking piece can look exactly like the real thing, although it is more affordable and easier to acquire.

Costume Jewellery is made out of faux gemstones such as crystals, rhinestones, and cubic zirconia, which looks like diamonds. It is then set in gold or silver plated brass. Although in earlier years it was made to look quite gaudy and flashy, a lot of costume jewellery being made today is quite pretty, and well made.

This type of jewellery is wonderful for everyday use, if you want to save your expensive pieces for special occasions. There are beautiful earrings, necklaces, brooches and rings that look as good as real gems.

It can also be added as a fashion statement on costumes, where a necklace, tiara, bracelet, or ring can complete the outfit, for either children or adults.

Costume jewellery can be added to homemade crafts, or decorating projects as well. A well placed stone on a pillow, a fancy looking bracelet to hold back your curtains, or a strand of faux pearls on a lampshade can add a warm look to your home.

Taking care of your costume jewellery is fairly simple. Keep it neat and organized, make sure it does not get broken, clean it regularly, and if you wish to, have it repaired as is needed. If you take care of it well, you might be able to pass it on to the younger generations someday.
